The Klinkhamer Special

I tied a few Klinkhamer Specials in a size 16 today. They turned out pretty good. Here is the Pattern for this fly:

Hook: Size 16 scud hook. I bend the eye of the hook flat.

Thread: Grey 6/0

Abdomen: Blue wing olive dry fly dubbing.

Wing post: White poly yarn

Thorax: 3 strands of peacock herl

Hackle: Dun

There are many variations of this fly. I have tied this to match blue wing olive hatches. I recommend the book, Tying Emergers, by Jim Schollmeyer and Ted Leeson. It is an excellent book with hundreds of emerger patterns, and step by step fly tying instructions, with pictures!!! It is a very well written and photographed book.
