Quick Note

I often tie Wooly Buggers for Bass fishing much different than the ones I tie to fish for Trout. I first tie with a 3x heavy 3x long hook. I add some wire to weight it down even more. Then I tie in the Marobou extra long, usually longer than the hook shank. I don't do anything different with the Shanelle. One of the biggest differences is the hakle feather. I use extra long webby feathers which I feel gives the fly much more action in the water. My favorite colors for Largemouth Bass are gray, black and brown. Gray would probably be my #1 choice as it resembles a minnow very well.
