Materials:
Size 2 Hook
Black Thread
Black Bead Chain Eyes
Black Rabbit Strips
Black Hackle (preferably webby)
1). I tie in the eyes kinda close to the hook eye. I usually add a drop of super glue after they are tied down. Build a thread base on the hook shank back to about the tip of the hook.
2). Clip a section of Rabbit Strip a little longer than the hook shank. Clip off the fur on the end where you cut it so it will tie in good. Tie it in on the top of the hook shank.
3). Tie in a longer section of a Rabbit Strip preparing it the same way you did the tail by clipping off the fur exposing the leather to tie it in. Tie it in and work the thread up to just behind the bead eyes.
4). Wrap (Hackle) the Rabbit Strip around the hook shank forward to the bead eyes. Be sure to pull the rabbit fur back so each wrap of the rabbit strip is flat on the hook shank. It's ok, probably preferred, that it overlaps a little to fill the body of the fly out. Tie off the Rabbit Strip and cut the excess rabbit strip. Advance the thread to the other side of the bead eyes.
5). I didn't take a picture of the next step, but I tied in two black hackle feathers and advanced the thread to just behind the hook eye and hackled the feathers and tied them in. I build up the head pulling the hankle feathers back to kinda give the fly a cone shaped head.
Good Luck!
